Opoho
School promotes a high level of physical activity and
health.
We
have recently joined an initiative called Active
Schools.
Active
Schools aims to improve physical activity opportunities and
experiences in our primary schools by:
-
providing schools with a quality teaching resource
outlining co-curricula and cross-curricula physical
activity opportunities for kids throughout the school
day
-
working with teachers to help them get the most from the
Active Schools teaching resource
-
supporting collaborative school and community-wide
physical activity planning.
Active
Schools is also helping create the sports heroes of the
future, giving children essential, basic physical skills
early on.
|
Opoho School offers a wide range of physical
activity both during and outside school hours. Some
of these include:
Miniball, teeball, hockey, netball, swimming
tuition, jump jam, athletics, gymnastics, activ8,
walk and wheels days and daily fitness.
Local clubs are also promoted:

Recently our Physical Activity Leaders (PALs) went
to a leadership day at the Edgar stadium. They were
able to experience several sports and activities
such as soccer, ripper rugby, hockey, basketball,
table tennis and wheelchair basketball. The skills
they gained at the workshops will help them plan and
organise the lunchtime activities they run for
pupils at Opoho School. |
